Our humanitarian work
Humsam engages in fundraising to support important causes and to ease financial burdens for those in need – without regard to nationality, religion or belief. Here are some of the ways our members have made a difference.
#HUMSAM_STAND_WITH_KERALA – Kerala Floods
When devastating monsoon floods and landslides hit Kerala, HUMSAM appealed to members and friends across the Hunter to raise funds for the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF). We also ran our community program cost-effectively and donated the savings to the flood relief appeal. Local organisations including Newcastle Navratri and Arpan for Charity joined us with their own donations.
COVID-19 Fundraiser – Children’s Art Competition
During the pandemic, HUMSAM organised a drawing and painting competition for children. Selected artworks were auctioned and the money raised was donated to the COVID-19 relief fund.
Blood Donation Campaign
HUMSAM organised a community blood donation drive. As we reminded everyone: 450 ml of your blood can save three lives – and a healthy person can donate every few months.
Emergency Medical Support
When a family in our community faced a medical emergency involving a loved one, HUMSAM Incorporated organised a fundraising campaign to help cover medical and repatriation costs so the family could focus on recovery.
